Single-vehicle crashes claim two lives in Ware and New Salem

NORTHAMPTON, Mass. (WWLP) - Two single-vehicle crashes that resulted in the deaths of two men, one in Ware and one in New Salem, are under investigation. A news release sent to 22News on Friday by the Northwestern District Attorney's Office states that in the first incident, officers were called to the area of 110 Bondsville Road in Ware at around 9 p.m. on Thursday for a report of a single-vehicle crash. The driver was pronounced dead at the scene. The preliminary report indicated that a 31-year-old man driving his BMW sedan was traveling southbound on Bondsville Road when he crossed the roadway to the left and struck a tree. The DA's Office believes that no other vehicles were involved. In the second crash, officers were called at around 5 a.m. on Friday to the area of 100 Blackinton Road in New Salem for a report of a single-vehicle crash. The crash involved a 26-year-old man who died after his Dodge truck hit a telephone pole. The preliminary report indicated he was traveling southbound on Blackinton Road when he crossed the roadway into the northbound lane and struck a telephone pole. No other occupants were in either vehicle. The identity of the drivers has not been released. Both crashes are being investigated by the Massachusetts State Police Detective Unit assigned to the Northwestern District Attorney's Office, the Massachusetts State Police Collision Analysis andReconstruction Section, the Massachusetts State Police Crime Scene Services Section, and the local police departments.
