Serious crash prompts hourslong lane closures on I-495, officials say
Part of I-495 in Chelmsford, Massachusetts has been temporarily shut down following a wrong-way crash on Tuesday night.The collision occurred just before 10 p.m. on I-495 south at the Hunt Road overpass.According to the Massachusetts State Police, the crash was a result of a wrong-way driver striking a car traveling in the correct direction.Police said one of the victims was taken to the hospital via medical helicopter.The wrong way driver sustained life-threatening injuries, according to investigators.A MassDOT spokesperson said I-495 southbound is closed at exit 88 because of the collision, and will remain closed for several hours.
