Serious crash, fire shut down Isle of Palms Connector
MOUNT PLEASANT, S.C. (WCBD) – Emergency crews responded Friday morning to a serious crash that shut down the Isle of Palms Connector. A photo shared by the Isle of Palms Police Department showed the crash and fire, which included a vehicle on its side. The Mount Pleasant Police Department said traffic was rerouted through Sullivan's Island while crews were dealing with the collision. Two vehicles were involved in the collision. Five people were taken to a local hospital by EMS to treat severe injuries, and one victim had to be freed from their vehicle by firefighters. The cause of the collision remains under investigation by the Mount Pleasant Police Department.
