SE Hwy 224 closed partially closed after train-vehicle crash in Milwaukie
A collision involving a vehicle and a train in Milwaukie left one person with critical injuries and led to road closures, according to Milwaukie Police. Milwaukie Police Department said in a post on social media that a traffic incident "involving a train and vehicle" took place today around 3 p.m. at Southeast Harrison Street and Southeast 31st Avenue. KATU News reached out to the department for more information. A spokesperson said an Amtrak train was involved, and one person was transported with critical injuries from the vehicle that was hit. "The scene is being investigated by the Clackamas County Craft forensic team," the spokesperson for Milwaukie Police Department said. KATU News reached out to Amtrak for comment. Milwaukie Police Department said that Southeast Highway 224 to Southeast 32nd Avenue is closed at this time. "Select an alternate route," the department's social media post said. The Oregon Department of Transportation alerted drivers at 3:45 p.m. of expected delays on eastbound Highway 224 due to the crash. "This may be an extended turn lane closure, so consider using an alternate route," ODOT said. "If you are traveling on OR 224 in Milwaukie please watch out for emergency responders." No further information regarding the details of the incident or any injuries has been provided to KATU News by Milwaukie Police at this time.
