Schumer asks FAA to stop NYC tour company flights after deadly crash

After a tragic helicopter crash that claimed the lives of six people, Senator Chuck Schumer is calling on the FAA to suspend the operations of New York Helicopters Inc. until the investigation is concluded. Schumer is expressing deep concern over the safety record of the company and believes they may be prioritizing profit over safety. He is also demanding increased oversight of helicopter tour companies to prevent similar incidents, criticizing FlyNYON Helicopter Tours for offering discounts on tours similar to the fatal one. Schumer is urging the FAA to conduct surprise inspections on all helicopter tour companies to ensure compliance with safety regulations. He is calling for real reforms in the helicopter tour industry to prevent further tragedies. Although investigators have recovered certain components of the crashed helicopter, including the fuselage and tail, there were no flight data recorders or onboard video devices to aid in the investigation. The victims of the crash have been identified, including a Spanish executive and his family, as well as the pilot, 36-year-old Seanqese Johnson, who was a Navy SEAL.
