School bus, SUV involved in east side crash

INDIANAPOLIS – A crash involving a school bus is under investigation on the east side. This was reported around 7:20 a.m. Wednesday at North Shadeland Avenue and Kensington Drive. Police at the scene said the incident involved an SUV and a school bus. Five students on the bus at the time were uninjured. Two children were in the SUV with their mother. The children were getting checked for injuries and the mother likely suffered a leg fracture, police said. Photos and videos showed the passenger side of the bus sustained significant damage. The SUV was towed away from the scene. According to the initial investigation, the SUV was heading north on Shadeland while the bus was traveling southbound and turning east onto Kensington when it struck the SUV. Speed was not believed to be a factor. The incident remains under investigation.
