Rollover crash kills Texas woman on I-49 in Natchitoches Parish
NATCHITOCHES PARISH, La. (KTAL/KMSS) - Investigators from Louisiana State Police (LSP) and the Natchitoches Parish Sheriff's Office (NPSO) are trying to figure out what caused a woman's vehicle to roll over and flip down an embankment, killing her. It happened just before 3:00 a.m. on Thursday, May 21, 2026, on I-49 north of Natchitoches, near Ajax. Troopers say 40-year-old Felisha Roe of Palestine, Texas, lost control, left the roadway, and overturned. According to NPSO, when deputies and EMS arrived on scene, they found the vehicle down an embankment near a bridge, with Roe's body inside. Natchitoches Parish Coroner Steven Clanton pronounced her dead at the scene. An LSP spokesperson said Roe was not restrained, and routine toxicology samples were submitted for analysis. "While not all crashes are survivable, proper use of seat belts can greatly decrease an occupant’s chance of death and may greatly reduce the extent of injury," said Casey Wallace, Louisiana State Police Public Affairs Section. "Always ensuring every occupant is properly restrained can often mean the difference between life and death."
