Rescue caught on camera after deadly wrong-way crash in Dallas.
Recently released video footage from dash cameras and body cameras depicts the heroic efforts of a Texas state trooper and a compassionate individual who rescued multiple individuals during a fiery wrong-way collision on the Dallas North Tollway earlier this year. The incident occurred near Royal Lane in the early hours of May 12, when a driver traveling in the wrong direction hit a truck and then collided head-on with a Nissan Altima. Corporal Jesse Smith from the Texas Department of Public Safety (DPS) was one of the initial responders at the scene. Despite facing a challenging situation, Smith and another trooper managed to rescue five women trapped inside the Altima before flames engulfed the vehicle. A good samaritan, Kevin Hughey, also stepped in to assist by helping to remove passengers from the car and keeping the fire at bay until firefighters arrived. Unfortunately, one individual lost their life in the accident, while the wrong-way driver is facing serious charges. Smith and Hughey were recently honored for their courageous actions during a special ceremony, emphasizing the importance of being prepared for unforeseen circumstances in life.
