Recovery of black boxes following deadly UPS plane crash in Louisville
Federal investigators confirmed the recovery of black boxes from the UPS cargo plane that crashed soon after departing from Louisville's airport. The tragic incident resulted in the loss of at least nine lives. According to NTSB Member J. Todd Inman, examination of video recordings displayed a significant fire on the left side of the aircraft and observed the detachment of the left engine from the wing. Despite the challenges the aircraft faced, it was able to gain enough altitude to surpass a runway fence before colliding with nearby businesses, igniting a fire that extended half a mile. The plane was en route to Honolulu, which meant it was carrying a considerable fuel load, further fueling the blaze. While the precise causes of the crash are still being probed, UPS has mentioned there were no delays in the flight schedule, and maintenance had not been performed before takeoff. The NTSB is urging anyone who locates debris from the crash site to reach out to investigators at [email protected], emphasizing the importance of collecting all relevant evidence to shed light on the incident.
