Police pursuit leads to deadly crash, one fatality: NY State Police
A man from New York has died after a police chase. The incident occurred when officers from the New York State Police (NYSP) Fredonia were investigating a fatal crash on State Route 5 in the town of Portland on Wednesday, September 24th. The NYSP troopers began pursuing 44-year-old Joseph Damico from Dunkirk while he was driving westbound on State Route 5 in Dunkirk. The pursuit lasted six minutes and ended when Damico's vehicle collided with the back of another car. Both vehicles then went off the road and came to a stop in a steep drainage ditch. Damico was pronounced dead at the scene, while the other driver was unharmed.
