The officials are suspected of having helped a colleague avoid responsibility for causing a traffic accident, IDB states. The pre-trial investigation revealed that the State Police officials may have deliberately failed to perform their duties and included facts that did not correspond to the truth in official documents to help another State Police official avoid liability under the law for causing a traffic accident. The State Police officer who caused the traffic accident was detained on suspicion of inciting State Police officers to inaction. Security measures not involving deprivation of liberty have been applied to the persons involved, including a ban on holding certain positions in the State Police for three of them. The initial information about the possible crime was provided to the Internal Security Bureau by the State Police.
