Police investigate deadly hit-&-run crash in Winthrop Harbor overnight
WINTHROP HARBOR, Ill. — An investigation is underway on Friday morning after a person was fatally struck by a car in the far north suburbs overnight. Winthrop Harbor police said the deadly crash unfolded just after 11 p.m. in the 1400 block of Sheridan Road. According to police, a preliminary investigation indicates that the victim was struck by a vehicle that was headed north along Sheridan. Following the crash, officers said the driver of the vehicle involved fled the scene. The victim was later taken to the hospital, where they were pronounced dead. Authorities have not yet identified the victim killed and it is unclear what led up to the crash.
