Platte reopens after crash injures two heavily

Platte Avenue in Colorado Springs has reopened after being closed for nearly four hours due to a head-on collision. The incident occurred at the intersection of Platte Avenue and Wooten Road just before 6 p.m., where a truck traveling westbound and a sedan traveling eastbound collided in the westbound lanes. Both drivers have been hospitalized with serious injuries. The eastbound sedan ended up in the westbound lanes, but it is unclear how. Emergency crews worked to rescue the individuals involved, and traffic diversions were put in place at Space Center Drive and Wooten Road. Despite the avenue being fully reopened now, drivers are still advised to avoid the area.
