Plane crash near Shannon Airport in Fredericksburg; deputies, police respond
FREDERICKSBURG, Va. (DC News Now) -- Police are investigating a small plane crash in Fredericksburg Tuesday morning. The Spotsylvania County Sheriff's Office told DC News Now that it received a report of an aircraft crash at around 11 a.m. According to the Spotsylvania County Fire Department, the plane crashed into the parking lot of the Greenline John Deer Dealership on Tidewater Trail, across the street from Shannon Airport. Officials noted that the aircraft did not hit the building. In a post on Facebook shortly before 11:30 a.m., the sheriff's office urged passerbys to use caution in the area due to the large amount of emergency personnel in the airport's vicinity. At this time, it is unclear if anyone was injured. DC News Now has a crew headed to the scene. This is a developing story.
