Pine Bluff Police Department investigating car vs. bicycle collision that left one dead
The Pine Bluff Police Department has announced a fatal traffic collision that left a cyclist deceased. Around 5:22 a.m. on July 12, PBPD officers were dispatched to the area of Olive Street and Ridgeway Road for a traffic collision call. Upon arrival, they discovered a 66-year-old white male who had previously been riding a bike lying on the ground unresponsive. The cyclist had apparently been hit by a midsize black SUV. The cyclist was pronounced deceased at the scene by Jefferson County Deputy Coroner April Davis. His identity is being withheld from the public pending notification of next of kin. The driver of the SUV stayed at the scene, before he was transported to Jefferson Regional Medical Center. The incident is being investigated by the Pine Bluff Police Department's Traffic Unit.
