GRAFTON, W.Va. (WBOY) — A wreck involving a log truck has shut down U.S. 50 in Taylor County for most of the day on Tuesday. According to the Harrison-Taylor 911 Log, at around 9:21 a.m., crews were called to a vehicle accident with unknown injuries on U.S. 50 just west of Thornton. West Virginia 511 data shows that the wreck has shut down both directions of traffic in the area. A 12 News viewer captured the following photos from the scene, which reveal a white pickup truck as the other vehicle involved in the wreck. 911 officials told 12 News that the wreck involved two vehicles, one of which was a log truck. They also said that one patient was reported, but had not been transported as of 10:50 a.m. Healthnet was also initially called to the scene, but was later told to stand down. Officials initially said that the road is expected to be closed for three to four hours, starting at 10 a.m. However, the road has remained closed well into the afternoon. 911 officials said around 4:50 p.m. that all vehicles had been removed from the road, but that the Division of Highways was going to keep the road closed to repair damage sustained from the wreck. Those who drive in the area are being detoured onto County Route 9/Knottsville Road, which turns into County Route 52/Glade Run, 511 reported. Crews with the Grafton and Fellowsville fire departments responded to the scene alongside Taylor County EMS, the Taylor County Sheriff's Office, West Virginia State Police and the Taylor County Office of Emergency Management.
