Party attendees claim 19-year-old consumed alcohol before deadly Union Ave crash: records

Nathon Michael Ramirez reportedly attended a party at a Bakersfield apartment complex pool, where witnesses say he consumed alcohol before driving some partygoers to another location on the night of June 10. After continuing to drink, Ramirez allegedly took a white BMW without permission, drove away at a high speed, and ended up crashing into a Dodge Charger, resulting in the death of the Dodge's driver, Jason Munoz-Cruz. Ramirez has pleaded not guilty to charges related to the incident and is currently in custody with bail set at $700,000. An upcoming preliminary hearing is scheduled for next month. Ramirez showed signs of intoxication at the crash scene, including a strong alcohol odor, slurred speech, and difficulty keeping his eyes open. Witnesses reported that Ramirez had driven away in the BMW without permission from the vehicle's owner, who later reported it as stolen. The incident occurred after they had been drinking together at a pool party earlier in the evening.
