Overnight: Semi-truck, 3 cars crash on Interstate 271

GRANGER TOWNSHIP, Ohio (WJW) -- First responders transported one person from the scene of an overnight crash on Interstate 271 South involving a semi truck and three other vehicles. It happened about 2 a.m. on Thursday, May 21, near the State Road intersection, near mile marker 5, according to the Ohio State Highway Patrol. A semi-truck that was headed south went off the right side of the roadway and hit three parked private vehicles belonging to construction workers who were at an inactive construction zone, according to the patrol. The truck stopped against a tree, according to the patrol. One worker who was sitting inside an SUV suffered minor hand and face injuries and was transported to a hospital, troopers said. The semi-truck driver was uninjured and was not impaired. The truck driver was cited for not driving in marked lanes. The right lane of I-271 South was closed ahead of the Thursday morning commute. The Ohio Department of Transportation just before 8 a.m. reported the right lane remained closed.
