One person is dead in Santa Cruz County after a fatal car crash Sunday morning
One person is dead after a car crashed into multiple vehicles and a tree early Sunday morning. CHP officers responded to a call of a vehicle crash around 2:18 a.m. on E. Zayante Road, north of W. Zayante Road. Upon arrival, it was determined to be a solo vehicle crash into a tree with fatal injuries.Officials say around 2:12 a.m., a 2018 Honda Civic driven by a 45-year-old man from Felton was driving southbound on E. Zayante Road at an unknown speed. The Honda left the roadway and crashed into three parked vehicles and a tree.The driver of the Honda did not have his seatbelt on and ejected from the vehicle. As a result of the crash, the driver was pronounced dead at the scene. The cause of the crash is still under investigation.As of 8:00 a.m., E. Zayante Road has been reopened.It is unknown if alcohol and/or drugs are factors in this crash. Information regarding the deceased victim is available from the Santa Cruz County Sheriff-Coroner’s Office.Lieutenant Boles, Acting Commander of the CHP Santa Cruz Area office, would like to remind everyone that seat belts save lives and prevent injuries.
