One person injured in collision between train and car in east Indianapolis
A collision between a train and a passenger car on the near east side of Indianapolis Saturday afternoon resulted in one person being hospitalized. The Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department responded to the incident at the intersection of Massachusetts and Parker Avenues around 2:55 p.m. The male driver of the passenger car was taken to a local hospital with non-life-threatening injuries. Authorities are investigating whether the driver crossed the train tracks on Massachusetts Avenue and are unsure if the driver drove around the rail arm. The investigation revealed that the blue Ford Escape driven by the motorist was dragged about 400-500 feet during the collision. IMPD stated that traffic in the area would be affected by the crash for an estimated 1-3 hours following the incident.
