One fatality in collision involving semi in Mercer County
A tragic accident in Mercer County on Saturday resulted in the death of a man after a collision at the intersection of US Route 33 and Celina Mendon Road. Eric Topp, aged 48, was driving southbound on Celina Mendon Road when he failed to yield at a stop sign, entering the path of a semi-truck driven by James R. Roell traveling eastbound on US Route 33. Despite immediate assistance from emergency responders, Topp was pronounced deceased at the scene. The Mercer County Sheriff's Office, along with other local departments, responded to the incident, and an investigation is ongoing. This unfortunate incident marks the second fatal crash in Mercer County this year.
