One dead, one seriously injured in Lawrence County crash
LAWRENCE COUNTY, Mo. — One person is dead, and another was seriously injured in a head-on crash in Lawrence County overnight Friday morning. The Missouri State Highway Patrol crash report states that the crash occurred before 2 a.m., one mile south of Miller on MO-39. In the crash, a southbound 2017 GMC Terrain SUV crossed the center line of the roadway and struck a northbound 2024 Toyota Corolla head-on. The driver of the GMC, a 36-year-old man from Mount Vernon, was pronounced dead at the scene, and next of kin have been notified of his passing. The female driver of the Toyota was taken to Mercy Hospital in Springfield with serious injuries. This is the 54th fatality in MSHP Troop D in 2026.
