
One dead in fatal Upshur County vehicle accident
BUCKHANNON, W.Va. (WBOY) — A man is dead following a vehicle accident in Upshur County on Monday afternoon. According to a press release from the Upshur County Sheriff's Office, deputies responded to a report of a single-vehicle crash on US Route 33 at around 1:23 p.m. on Monday. The release states that the vehicle, a Dodge pickup truck owned by United Contracting Inc. of Buckhannon, "was traveling westbound before entering the median, crossing over into the eastbound lane, striking the guardrail, and rolling over the embankment coming to a rest in a stream." When deputies arrived on the scene they observed the truck had suffered heavy damage. The driver of the truck, identified as 50-year-old Daniel Carson of Buckhannon, was pronounced dead as a result of the crash. Route 33 was shut down so the vehicle could be recovered. The investigation is ongoing. West Virginia State Police Buckhannon and Elkins Detachment troopers assisted the Upshur County Sheriff's Office with the crash investigation.
