One dead, another injured after overnight crash in Manor
One person is dead and another is seriously injured after a two-vehicle crash at the intersection of U.S. 290 and Old Kimbro Road early Friday, according to the Manor Police Department. Officers responding to a collision report at approximately 4:37 a.m. found one vehicle stopped in the middle of the roadway and a second vehicle off the road in a fence line, police said. ALSO | One year after the floods, Central Texas is still grieving, rebuilding, demanding answers William Ewer, of Elgin, the front passenger in one vehicle, was pronounced dead at the scene. The driver of that vehicle, Brenda Ewer, also of Elgin, was extricated by Travis County ESD-12 Fire and flown by STAR Flight to a local hospital, where she was listed in stable condition. The driver and passenger in the other vehicle reported no injuries and remained at the scene for the investigation, police said. The driver, identified as Carlos David Martinez Sanchez, was taken into custody on a charge of driving without a license. The cause of the crash remains under investigation. "The Manor Police Department responded extends its deepest condolences to the Ewer family and their loved ones," the department said.
