Ohio State Highway Patrol releases details on serious crash involving two local high school baseball players
(Featured video shows footage from previous coverage) BELMONT COUNTY, Ohio (WTRF) — Authorities are investigating a serious single-vehicle crash that left two people injured Tuesday afternoon in Belmont County. The crash happened around 4:25 p.m. on U.S. Route 40 in Pease Township, according to a news release from the Ohio State Highway Patrol’s St. Clairsville post. Investigators say a 1999 BMW 323i was traveling westbound when it entered a right curve, went off the roadway and struck a curb, an embankment and a utility pole. Both the driver and a passenger suffered serious injuries and were taken by emergency crews to Wheeling Hospital. Their conditions were not immediately available. Multiple agencies responded to the scene, including Bridgeport Fire and EMS, Wolfhurst EMS and Brookside EMS. The Belmont County Sheriff’s Office also assisted. The vehicle was removed by Braden’s A-1 Towing. The crash remains under investigation.
