A Greendale police officer was hospitalized after colliding their squad car into a pole in Franklin on July 6. According to the Greendale Police Department, the officer attempted to initiate a traffic stop around 5 p.m. The vehicle being pursued evaded, resulting in a chase. A separate vehicle not involved in the pursuit unexpectedly cut off the officer's squad car, prompting the officer to swerve to avoid a collision. The squad car collided with a light pole near 76th Street and Rawson Avenue, causing it to catch fire, but the fire was promptly extinguished. The officer sustained non-life-threatening injuries and was taken to the hospital. No other injuries or arrests were reported in connection to the incident.
