Numerous injuries in Colorado I-70 crash near Eisenhower Tunnel
Five individuals were injured in a collision involving two semi trucks and multiple other vehicles on Interstate 70 last Wednesday afternoon. The incident occurred just after 3 p.m. near the Eisenhower-Johnson Memorial Tunnel, leading to the closure of the highway in both directions. The Colorado State Patrol indicated uncertainty regarding the duration of the closure, with social media posts alerting the public. The crash involved a westbound semi truck colliding with another semi truck, resulting in both vehicles crossing into the eastbound lanes and striking other vehicles. The severity of one victim's injuries was classified as life-threatening. To navigate around the closure, a detour has been set up for motorists via Highway 6 over Loveland Pass from Summit County to Clear Creek County, though significant delays are anticipated for those choosing this alternate route. As of 6 p.m., the semis were still obstructing traffic in both directions on the interstate.
