Newly discovered second "black box" from Air India plane crash Investigation
Authorities in India have recovered the cockpit voice recorder, also known as the second "black box," from the crash site of Air India flight 171. This was the Boeing 787-8 Dreamliner that tragically crashed in Ahmedabad, killing almost all of the 242 passengers on board and numerous others on the ground. The hope is that by analyzing the data from the voice recorder, investigators can determine the cause of the crash that occurred just after takeoff. The flight data recorder had already been secured earlier. These black boxes are crucial as they capture vital information such as conversations in the cockpit, alarms, and other sounds that might provide valuable insights. The investigation into the crash is being led by India's Aircraft Accident Investigation Bureau, with assistance from teams from the U.S. and the U.K. Efforts to identify victims and return their remains to their families continue amidst the ongoing probe.
