New information revealed in NTSB report on deadly Lancaster County plane accident
In Lancaster County, Pennsylvania, a preliminary report from the National Transportation Safety Board (NTSB) reveals that a plane crashed in a cornfield after taking off with a full tank of fuel. The pilot, Musaddiq Nazeeri, conducted a brief inspection of the Piper PA-46 aircraft before departing towards State College. Tragically, the plane suddenly went down 650 feet above sea level, crashing nine seconds later. Dr. Nazeeri, the sole occupant, was a victim of the crash. The NTSB report indicates that air traffic control attempted to contact the pilot shortly after takeoff but was unsuccessful. The final investigation into the July incident, expected to last 18 to 20 months, will determine the cause of the crash. The six-seat Piper PA-46-500TP Meridian had undergone its most recent inspection on March 14.
