Hattori was widely known for his ownership of the NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series team Hattori Racing Enterprises (HRE), which claimed the championship title in 2018 with driver Brett Moffitt. Prior to his team ownership roles, Hattori competed in the Truck Series in 2004 and also participated in IndyCar in 2000. His imprint on the sport was profound as HRE amassed 14 race victories from 2018 to 2021. Hattori's legacy included representing NASCAR in his homeland of Japan, fostering a strong bond with Toyota, and spearheading a NASCAR training program for mechanics in the region. The tragic incident was confirmed by the Huntersville Police Department, detailing the collision on NC Highway 73 that claimed Hattori's life.
