Multiple vehicle crash kills Lansing man, injures five others in Lansing Township

LANSING, Mich. (WLNS) — A three-vehicle crash killed a 36-year-old Lansing man and left five other people injured on Saturday evening in Lansing Township. According to the Lansing Township Police Department, the crash occurred on West Saginaw Street near North Rosemary Street at around 8:00 p.m. on March 28 Following the preliminary police investigation, it is believed that an SUV traveling eastbound on Saginaw Street crossed into the westbound lanes and hit a vehicle. This crash led to a secondary crash involving another vehicle traveling in the westbound lanes. Police report that the 36-year-old man was pronounced dead at the scene. Five people were transported to the hospital by ambulance for what the police called "serious injuries." Law enforcement officials closed West Saginaw Street in both directions from North Rosemary Avenue to Stanley Street for several hours Police report that speed and alcohol are believed to have been contributing factors. The investigation remains ongoing. 6 News was at the scene at around 9:00 p.m. and saw at least seven police vehicles and two Lansing Fire Department trucks. According to Lansing Township police, they received reports that the "at-fault vehicle" may have been involved in a separate crash on West Saginaw Street near Waverly Road at around the same time and drove off.
