Multi-vehicle crash closes Highway 24 near Woodland Park

The Teller County Sheriff's Office has confirmed that Highway 24 (US 24) is closed in both directions because of a multi-vehicle crash west of Woodland Park on Thursday, Feb. 19. On COtrip, the Colorado Department of Transportation says that the closure is between Tranquil Acres Road and Pennsylvania Avenue, roughly three miles east of Divide. According to the Facebook post from the sheriff's office, traffic is being diverted to Tranquil Acres Rd. and Trout Creek Road, but traffic volume is heavy as of 8:30 a.m. on Thursday. Deputies request drivers to avoid the area if possible until the units and workers on the scene have cleared the lanes. This incident comes amidst snow-packed roads and icy conditions across US 24 and CO 67, brought by an overnight cold front after days of wind warnings in Southern Colorado.
