MSHP: Kansas man killed after semi-truck crashes, catches fire on Interstate 70 in Blue Springs
A Kansas man was killed in a semi-truck crash on Interstate 70 early Monday morning in Blue Springs. The crash happened around 4:30 a.m. in the westbound lanes of I-70 near Woods Chapel Road.The Missouri Highway Patrol report states a 2025 Mack truck driven by a 62-year-old man from Fort Scott, Kansas. The truck traveled off the right side of the roadway, hit a guardrail, overturned and then caught fire.The driver was pronounced dead at the scene. Fire crews from the Kansas City, Missouri, Fire Department assisted at the scene.The crash forced all westbound lanes of I-70 to close for several hours Monday morning while crews investigated and cleaned up the wreckage.
