Motorcycle accident claims life of Carthage business owner
CARTHAGE, Mo. — A Carthage man was killed in a Sunday afternoon motorcycle crash. Gabe Royer, 40, was driving east on Gum Road, about six miles east of Carthage and just west of Highway 37, when his motorcycle ran off the road, struck a culvert, and ejected him. Royer was flown to Mercy Springfield, where he later died from his injuries around 2 a.m. Friends said Royer was a well-known entrepreneur in the Carthage area and will be remembered for how he cared for others, often dropping everything to be with people in their time of need. The crash marks the 23rd fatality of the year for Missouri State Highway Patrol Troop D.
