Metro police identify motorcyclist killed in Bell Road crash
NASHVILLE, Tenn. (WKRN) — The Metro Nashville Police Department has identified the motorcyclist killed in a crash on Friday afternoon along Bell Road. According to the MNPD, the crash happened around 3:30 p.m. Friday, April 10, on Bell Road at Nashboro Boulevard. Police identified the motorcyclist killed in the crash as 59-year-old Randall Abernathy Sr. of Nashville. Officials said the preliminary investigation indicated Abernathy was traveling south on his 2025 Harley Davidson Road Glide when a 2017 Ford Escape turned onto Bell Road from Nashboro Boulevard and hit the motorcycle. Abernathy was taken to Vanderbilt University Medical Center where he died, police said. According to the MNPD, the driver of the Ford said she turned right on red, but it is unknown at this time whether Abernathy was traveling straight in a right turn only lane or if he had the right of way. Police said neither Abernathy nor the Ford driver showed signs of impairment, and the investigation is ongoing.
