Memorial for Chisago City teens in fatal weekend accident

The community is coming together to mourn the loss of two teenagers who tragically died in a head-on crash in Chisago City over the weekend. Jax Affolter, a beloved member of the Chisago Lakes Hockey Association, is being honored by the hockey club, who are encouraging people to place hockey sticks outside their homes in remembrance of him. A MealTrain campaign has also been set up to support Jax's family during this difficult time. The Chisago Lakes Hockey Association described Jax as a kind-hearted individual who was a cherished friend, teammate, and big brother to many. They have asked for privacy as they focus on supporting the family and the skaters who knew Jax. A heartwarming video shared on the club's Facebook page shows the Chisago Lakes Bantam squad paying tribute to Jax after a victory in St. Paul on Saturday. Roadside memorials have been established near the crash site to honor both teens involved in the tragic incident. Friends of the 17-year-old driver who survived also gathered at the scene to remember him, expressing shock and disbelief at the loss. The crash, which occurred early Saturday morning, involved a Toyota Camry and a Toyota 4Runner colliding, resulting in the deaths of the 15-year-old passenger in the Camry and the 17-year-old driver of the 4Runner. Several other individuals were seriously injured in the crash, and police suspect alcohol may have been a contributing factor. The police have not released the names of the victims at this time.
