Manchester teen dies days after Hartford motorcycle crash, police say

HARTFORD — A Manchester teen has now died after being critically injured in a crash on Franklin Avenue last week in the city, police said. Elijah Santiago, 17, died Saturday after crashing his motorcycle on Tuesday, Hartford Police Lt. Aaron Boisvert said. Police had initially reported the rider's age to be 18 after the crash occurred. The crash occurred near Standish Street just before 6 p.m., Boisvert said. Santiago was found at the scene unresponsive, and taken to a hospital with serious injuries, he said. The driver of the other vehicle involved in the crash remained at the scene and cooperated with officers, Boisvert said. Boisvert said the crash remains under investigation by the department's Crime Scene Division. Police ask anyone with information on the fatal crash to call HPD Tip Line at 860-722-TIPS (8477).
