Man who admitted to causing deadly DUI crash in Flathead County discovered deceased

Dal Segall, who pleaded guilty to causing a fatal drunk driving crash near Bigfork in 2024, was discovered deceased on December 12, 2025, in Missoula County after failing to show up for his sentencing. State of Montana Attorney Ashley Frechette stated that Segall is believed to have died by suicide, though a formal investigation will be carried out by law enforcement and the coroner's office. The collision occurred on December 1, 2024, on Montana Highway 83 near Echo Lake Café, resulting in one fatality and critical injuries to several individuals. Wyatt Potts lost his life in the crash, while three others were severely injured, including Potts' fiancée Teressa Brandt. Segall, who had admitted to driving under the influence after drinking at the Garden Bar in Bigfork, faced charges of vehicular homicide and vehicular assault. Despite reaching a plea agreement recommending 60 years in prison with 20 years suspended, Segall was found deceased before his sentencing, prompting a formal investigation. Two GoFundMe campaigns were established to support the families affected by this tragic incident.
