Man sentenced for fatal crash that killed Champion resident

A 70-year-old man from Champion, Tommy Hale, Jr., was sentenced on Friday for his role in a fatal crash that took the life of a 55-year-old man. He appeared in Warren Municipal Court where he admitted guilt to charges of first-degree misdemeanor vehicular homicide and manslaughter. Hale was immediately sentenced to 90 days in jail, five years of probation, and a three-year suspension of his driver's license. The incident occurred on June 2 when Hale failed to stop at a stop sign and collided with a motorcyclist, resulting in the victim's death. He was not under the influence of drugs or alcohol at the time of the crash. Hale is currently in custody at Trumbull County Jail.
