Man pinned, killed in fatal ATV crash on Hawaiʻi Island
HONOLULU (KHON2) -- A crash on Hawaiʻi Island killed a man on the night of Saturday, Feb. 7, police reported. According to Hawaiʻi Police Department, the incident happened at 11:35 p.m. on Mud Lane in Honoka‘a. Officials said a man was towing a trailer on his ATV when he lost control of the vehicle. The ATV flipped over, and the man was pinned underneath. Fire and medical crews responded to the scene and determined he was "beyond life-saving measures." The man was pronounced dead at 12:20 a.m. on Sunday, Feb. 8. This marks the fourth traffic fatality on Hawai‘i Island in 2026, compared to five this time last year.
