Man on motorcycle killed after crash with semi-truck in Victorville

A 24-year-old Victorville man died Saturday night after his motorcycle collided with a semi-truck at a major High Desert intersection, authorities said. Deputies with the San Bernardino County Sheriff’s Department responded around 9:06 p.m. to the intersection of U.S. Highway 395 and Mojave Drive after reports of a crash involving a semi-truck and a motorcycle. Investigators say Miguel Escobar, 24, was riding his motorcycle westbound on Mojave Drive when he failed to stop for a red light and entered the intersection. At the same time, a semi-truck driven by Francisco Casillas was traveling northbound on U.S. Highway 395. According to preliminary findings, Escobar collided with the rear partition of the semi-truck and was pronounced dead at the scene. Casillas remained at the scene and cooperated with investigators. Officials said the initial investigation found no criminal element. The intersection of U.S. Highway 395 and Mojave Drive was closed for about four hours while deputies investigated the crash, authorities said. Anyone who witnessed the collision or has information is asked to contact Deputy C. Cherms at the Victorville Police Station at 760-241-2911.
