Man killed in crash involving Ford Model T in Washington City

WASHINGTON CITY, Utah (ABC4) — A man was killed after being ejected from a Ford Model T in a two-vehicle crash in Washington City on Wednesday afternoon. According to the Washington City Police Department (WCPD), officers responded to a serious traffic collision at the intersection of Rio Virgin Drive and Washington Dam Road around 12:46 p.m. on May 27. When they arrived, they found an older adult male unresponsive in the roadway, who appeared to have sustained life-threatening injuries during the crash. Despite life-saving efforts, the man died as a result of those injuries. (Courtesy: Joseph Degolyer) While the crash is still under investigation, officials say that the deceased driver was driving a vintage Ford Model T and was turning onto Washington Dam Road, possibly making a U-turn maneuver to turn into the eastbound travel lane. A second driver, in a Ford F450 pickup truck towing a flatbed trailer, entered the intersection and collided with the Model T in a head-on/sideswipe manner, according to police. This caused the Model T to spin 180 degrees, and the driver was ejected from the vehicle. Washington City Police Department said that it, "sends our deepest condolences to the family of the deceased during this incredibly difficult time. We also extend our sincere gratitude to the multiple agencies who quickly responded to assist our team with this incident." WCPD also says they do not suspect impairment for either driver.
