Man from Whitley County convicted of first-degree reckless murder due to drunk driving incident causing child's death

A man has been found guilty by a jury in Whitley County of first-degree wanton murder, assault, and wanton endangerment. In January 2024, Matthew Croley was charged following a drunk driving incident that led to the tragic death of a two-year-old child and injuries to a mother. The Commonwealth's Attorney, Ronnie Bowling, successfully prosecuted Croley for these crimes. Troopers Corey Jones, Donnie Jones, Rob Mitchell, and Michael Hamblin from the Kentucky State Police, alongside Sergeant Zach Alsip, Sergeant Shane Bowling, Sergeant Jerry Jones, and Sergeant Chad Foley from the Williamsburg Police Department, played a significant role in the investigation that led to Croley's conviction. Croley's sentencing is set for next month.
