Man from Plattsburgh faces charges following a crash on Smithfield Boulevard
A Plattsburgh man was arrested by State Police and charged with felony DWI following a car accident on Jan. 5. When police arrived at the scene of a property damage crash involving a 2025 Honda operated by 33-year-old Shawn M. Powers, they noted signs of impairment. Powers allegedly failed Standard Field Sobriety Tests and was subsequently taken into custody for further testing. A breath analysis revealed a blood alcohol content of .23 percent. Due to a prior DWI conviction within the last decade, Powers faces charges of felony DWI and aggravated driving while intoxicated. He was issued appearance tickets to return to the Town of Plattsburgh Court for further legal proceedings later this month.
