Man from Cook County arrested by police in Chicago 5 months following deadly DUI accident

A man from Westchester has been accused of causing a fatal crash earlier this year on the West Side of Chicago that resulted in the death of one individual and injuries to another, according to Chicago police reports. Maximino Rivera, aged 42, was allegedly driving under the influence on March 8 on North Central Avenue when his vehicle collided with another car. The incident resulted in injuries to a 59-year-old man in the second vehicle and the death of a 41-year-old passenger traveling with Rivera. Rivera was taken into custody on Wednesday on South State Street and now faces charges in relation to the crash. The reasons for the delay between the accident and the arrest are not currently clear. The deceased passenger's identity has not been disclosed. Rivera's detention hearing was scheduled to take place on Wednesday at the Leighton Criminal Courthouse.
