Man dead after head-on collision on 24th St
BAKERSFIELD, Calif. (KGET) -- A man is dead after a head-on collision on 24th Street Saturday, according to the Bakersfield Police Department. The Kern County Coroner's Office identified him as Steven Rene Bernal, 24, of Bakersfield. Police said they responded to the crash just after 1 a.m. Investigation showed a man, later identified as Bernal, was driving eastbound at a high speed on 24th Street with no lights on when he collided with another vehicle. Bernal was transported to a hospital where he later died. The other driver had minor injuries and was treated at a hospital. BPD said impairment appears to be a factor in this crash.
