Man critically injured in fast collision on I-49 in Grandview
A man was seriously injured in a high-speed collision on Friday on northbound Interstate 49 in Grandview. According to the Grandview police, the incident occurred around 11 a.m. when a speeding vehicle encountered slowing traffic near the Main Street exit. The driver of the vehicle abruptly changed lanes and collided with an SUV, causing the vehicle to veer off the road and overturn. The driver, who was not wearing a seatbelt, was thrown from the vehicle and sustained serious injuries. He was taken to a nearby hospital in critical condition. Due to the crash, two lanes of northbound I-49 and the on-ramp from Main Street to northbound I-49 are currently closed. Authorities anticipate reopening the interstate and frontage road later on Friday afternoon.
