Man charged in multi-vehicle crash on Cleveland’s west side that killed 1, injured several others
CLEVELAND (WJW) -- A Las Vegas man has been charged with aggravated vehicular homicide after a Friday, April 24, crash involving multiple vehicles that killed one person and injured several others. The crash happened at about 6 p.m. near the intersection of West 150th Street and Lorain Avenue, FOX 8 News previously reported. Firefighters freed one person who was trapped in a vehicle. Cleveland EMS initially reported five people between the ages of 23 and 54 had been injured and transported to hospitals. A 54-year-old man, who reportedly experienced traumatic cardiac arrest after the crash, later died. The Cuyahoga County Medical Examiner's office on Monday identified him as James Cook of Fairview Park. A 22-year-old woman was in critical condition on Friday night, according to officials. There's been no update on her condition. A third person was listed in serious condition and two more were considered stable, officials reported. Police on Saturday, April 25, filed charges of Zayd Alameen, 22, of Las Vegas, Nevada, with third-degree felony counts of aggravated vehicular homicide and aggravated vehicular assault, Cleveland Municipal Court records show. He was arraigned on Monday morning and his bond was set at $50,000 or 10% cash or surety. He's due back in court on May 4.
