Man charged after Webster store theft leads to car wreck

WEBSTER, N.Y. — A man has been charged with petit larceny and burglary for stealing from a store in Webster, that eventually led to a crash with a car that flipped on its side, according to Webster Police. Webster police were responding to a larceny within the Webster Towne Plaza Friday afternoon. Officers say the suspects reportedly left in a white Toyota Camry with the stolen items and headed towards Holt Road. New York State Police were in the area and saw the vehicle, which then ran a red light at Holt Road and Rt. 104. This caused a collision with a vehicle that had been traveling eastbound — causing the uninvolved vehicle to flip. Webster police say they charged the passenger of the Camry, a 28-year-old man with petit larceny and burglary in the third degree and took him to Monroe County Jail. The driver of the Camry, a 35-year-old woman, was taken to Strong Hospital with non-life-threatening injuries. The driver of the uninvolved vehicle was taken to the hospital for "precautionary evaluation."
