Madison Co.: Anderson woman dead after being struck by vehicle
MADISON COUNTY, Ind. -- An Anderson woman was killed after she was reportedly struck by a vehicle early Thursday morning in Madison County. According to officials with the Madison County Sheriff's Department, deputies responded to a crash at Scatterfield Road and Alexandria Pike at around midnight on Thursday. When deputies arrived, officials said that they found a single-vehicle crash involving a Chevrolet Spark, driven by a 31-year-old Frankton resident. The Spark reportedly struck a pedestrian, later identified as 38-year-old Johnay Swain. An initial investigation found that Swain was walking northbound on Scatterfield Road when she was reportedly struck by the vehicle. Swain was pronounced dead at the scene by the Madison County Coroner's Office, officials said. The driver of the Chevrolet Spark remained on scene after the crash and is cooperating with the investigation. An official said the crash remains under investigation by the Madison County Sheriff's Department's crash investigation team.
